b 1899, Odessa, Ukraine, Isaac Frenel is considered one of the most prominent artists of the Ecole de Paris together with his contemporaries Soutine, Modigliani, Kikoine, Mané-Katz etc. Studied in Paris at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, and at the Grande Chaumière and at the studios of the sculptor BourdeIle and the painter Matisse. Prizes: Beaux Arts Scholarship, Paris; Five times winner of the Dizengoff Prize. 1958 First Prize for Lithography, Brussels; 1972 Prize for Painting Nudes; 1973 International Prize, Franch Riviera; 1973 International Prize, Deauville, France.
