1930 - 1999. Matushevsky is a well-known artist. He was particularly passionate about Russia's ever-changing landscapes, the spacious expanses of land, forests, flooded meadows and villages. He found special pleasure in conveying the mood of nature in vibrant and colourful tones, sometimes exceeding all conventional notions of colour harmony with strong ultramarine skies frequently being pierced by brilliant gold from the setting sun.
Born in Litvinovo, Kemerovo region. Matushevsky graduated from Leningrad Inst of Applied Arts 1955 and since 1956 has been a participant in city, republican and all-Union art exhibitions, and since 1968, in exhibitions of Soviet paintings abroad in France, Italy, Japan, USA, UK, Holland, Sweden etc. He baecame a member of the Union of Artists in 1960. His works are displayed in many Russian museums: Novgorod Art Museum, Ryazan Art Museum, People's Picture Gallery in Solnechny, Frunze Picture Gallery
